News & Updates

Hi you guys! We are so sorry it has taken us so long to post an update. As you can guess, life has been crazy.

The response to Bryan and our Thanksgiving Day picture was unbelievable!! So thank you!

Bry continues to amaze us with his strength and his determination. He proves it daily during all of his therapies.

Last week he had surgery to remove the kidney stones. As expected, he was uncomfortable afterwards, but continued with his therapy schedules.

An interesting change we noticed, is he no longer wants us touching his feet and hands. Which makes it a challenge to keep them looking good. One time Bonnie tried to be sneaky by doing it while he was sleeping. She clipped one toenail, his eyes popped open and he forcibly said "no Bonnie!". We've learned to just talk him through it and promise not to hurt him.

The other night Jacque brought Tabitha to painting class with him. She brought some ornaments they painted together (and turned out beautiful!). As they were leaving Bryan said to Tabby "I love you baby". What a special moment for her and according to Jacque, Tabby was beyond happy.

We love these small (yet huge) moments with him and couldn't be more blessed to have him here.

Excited to see the new post! What a special memory for Bryan and Tabby - sure that will be the most cherished ornament on the tree for years to come.

Happy to hear that the surgery went well and hope he goes back to liking his feet and hands being touched - I know you all spoil him with mani and pedi's.

Warm wishes for your continued recovery and happies of holiday's.

YAY !! what a wonderful update! gave me an awesome feeling in my heart to know he can express his love for his daughter in such a beautiful statement. How wonderful for her to hear those words! Sorry Bonnie that he doesn't want you touching his toes. Maybe we need to send him a hottie manicurist to give him a msni & pedi, bet he wouldn't argue then! :-) Sorry girls ysu are hot but you are also his sisters!! ha ha
thank you for the update! We love hearing about the wonderful progress Bry is making! Prayers continuing for Bry and all of you! Keep on Believing!!!

Had no idea he had any kidney stones and I am glad they are out and he is continue to move forward with his PT & OT. He such a strong man.
Bryan you seriously crack me up with your feet. It's ok to have manly feet they don't have to be perfect. Just promise me that you will not let them get gross. I know your sisters will not let that happen ✄ Just trim the nails and push back the cuticle bed. ✄ You will be fine. I bet if you had whom every you thought was 'Hot' on TV come and do it you will be ok with it. :)

But all joking aside the best part of this up date for me is that the time you spent with Tabby. This is so special for her and the fact that you said " I love you baby' that is so touching. There is something so special about a father's love for his daughter. Bryan and family thank you once again for sharing your life with us. I feel it's a privilege to read the updates.
Bryan take care.
Sending much love and please stay warm.

I'm hoping Bryan and his family will see this message.
While I'm sad to hear about Bryan and his kidney stones, I am so thrilled to hear that he is continuing to make impeccable progress. I continue to pray for Bryan and his family every night.

This past May I was in my last semester of nursing school and set for graduation. Unfortunately, 8 weeks before I was to graduate, my instructor failed me. I sat and thought for about a month wondering and worrying if I would be able to go through the 4th semester again. The question popped in my head, "Is nursing really for me? Can I really do this again?" Then I thought of Bryan and all that he has gone through; the endless hours in ICU and rehabilitation, his strength, determination, and perseverance on winning his battle. It was then I thought, "I can do this!" I am proud to say that I will be graduating next Thursday! Bryan's story has inspired me to become an ICU nurse! Keep up the good work Bryan. Thank you for inspiring me not to give up on my dream of becoming a nurse!

I was wondering about you guys just this last week--so glad you posted an update. I'm really glad Bryan's surgery went well, and that he continues to progress! What a blessing, and I hope you guys have a very merry Christmas this year. I will pray for you all, and hope to see Bryan throw out that first pitch in the spring!

I feel like I just keep repeating myself on here, but I'm always so moved by what you graciously choose to share with all of us total strangers. I can imagine Tabby's joy! She will treasure those ornaments forever. After learning all we have about the Stow family, I am sure you will find a way to have a special Christmas with Bryan even if though not at home. God bless you all and I will continue to keep you all in my prayers. Merry Christmas Bryan and Stow Family!

Stow family you are all amazing and have stuck together through this all this is my 1st post although I have been following everything from the get go. I being an EMT for a few years have great respect for Bryan and your family going through each day and being an amazing support system to another. Please keep the glue that binds you all it is an inspiration to all of us. We have sent positive vibes each day for Bryan's recovery and so glad he was able to spend time with Tabby those decorations should be at the top of the tree for many years to come! I don't think my post worked the first time so am trying again. My sincere apologies if it ends up double posting.

:) Thank for the wonderful update. I, too, feel like I keep repeating myself but truly am both humbled and honored to read these reports and be a virtual part of your family cheering section. My first thought upon reading that Bryan has been protesting about his feet/nail care is "wow one more great sign." One more concrete step that Bryan truly is making so much progress and perhaps is wanting (or trying to) take on more of his care himself. I wish all of you the merriest of Christmas'. I can't wait to read come April all about how Bryan threw out the first pitch. I will save the articles for anytime I feel need of inspiration. Peace and love to all of you.

I have been reading the post on Bryan's recovery several months now, and I am so thrilled about all his positive progress it might be slow, but thats ok he will continue to thrive, and make it all worth while, I have to let him know that my husband Ernie doesn't like his toes messed with either so thats ok right? and for his daughter to hear him say I love You is so awesome, I will continue to keep reading until the one day that he is coming home...thank YOU.

Come on Bryan, feet & toes are kind of ugly so you better keep them looking as nice as possible!!! Haha I liked the post about sending in a hottie manicurist. But maybe he really wants an ugly one, it is feet you know. Poor guy probably hasn’t been able to say no to anything or have an opinion in a long time. Hey, if he wants a stranger & if there is a manicurist on staff I would love to buy him a mani/pedi. I’m so glad to hear about Tabitha having such a great time painting with Bryan. That is very special.

I also tried posting earlier but the postmonster seems to have eaten it, so I'll try again. Just wanted to express sympathy to Bryan for the aftermath of having kidney stones removed. Some years ago I had to have surgery after two weeks of enduring a kidney stone that wouldn't pass. It was 'unpleasant' to say the least. Hope the pain and discomfort is starting to recede now, Bryan. Otherwise, woot, I'm encouraged to hear you are resisting pedicure, as all good men should do. :) :) That's an encouraging sign. Cheers to you and to the Stow family as Christmas draws ever closer.

Bry please keep your feet up. As sexy as you are, you need to have your feet looking as good as you. I read you are a foot person I am to some degree too. I can understand if you don't want your sister to do it. But see if you can get a day pass to get it done. How fun it will be, whoever takes you can get one too. I know you are kind of famous now and therefore you may want to ask if you can come in early before the store opens and or find a place that will respect you privacy. Stay sexy.

I have been following Bryan's progress and am so impressed with his determination to get better. He is so lucky to have such a wonderful family. I live in Southern California very near the city where the offenders live. I have been tracking the legal process and I am planning on attending part of the trial. I will be there with a large picture of Bryan to remind the jury of what these two horrible excuses for human beings did to
Bryan and that the community is outraged and feels justice must be done.

God bless you and your family, Bryan! I am very happy to hear about your progress, and I pray that every day you find renewed strength to heal and become stronger and healthier than ever. As someone who suffered a minor head injury at the hands of criminals, myself, I know how scary it can be. However, you are proving what true courage and resilience are, and your progress is inspiring. I hope that justice finds those who did this to you, and I wish you a wonderful, full life ahead.

Merry Christmas!

Stow Family:

This is the most amazing story I've ever known. Your courage - all of you - matched with Bryan's determination is inspirational. I've been brought to tears reading the updates. Your family is incredible and you continue to display what true love is all about. I pray he continues his recovery. Those children have an incredible mother and father. May God be with all of you and from our family to yours: Merry Christmas.

Blinking back tears after reading the tragedy of what happened, with a smile at the miraculous recovery Bryan is making, I wanted to send Merry Christmas wishes to you and yours, and that the New Year is close at hand. 2012 will hold many new and bright things for the you. Your a wonderful, strong and loving family. That in itself speaks volumns for how your family has moved forward, one day at a time. God bless you and your family. As well as for the friends and supporters who have showed the Love, Compassion and Empathy to be there when most needed.

First off, Thank you to the Stow Family for keeping all of us informed about Brian. I have tremendous respect and admiration for the pain and outcome that you have experienced. Brian... I am so very proud of you for every step that you've made. You know, in 2006 my brother was taken from me in a freak car accident involving a trash truck running a red light...I rememeber the pain that came and still comes from that very moment when I received the call, and I remember thinking (still do) that I wish I just had that one last chance to kiss him and hug him and tell him how much I love him...just to hear him breathe....I find comfort in reading your story. Like you, my brothers name is Brian, and although I dont get to see him everyday, I still absolutely love the name. Brian, I hope when you read all of these amazing comments of people who support your every move, that you will realize what am amazing world we live in. Never Met you or the fam, but would kill to have the chance. Im so very proud of you Brian! you got this!
Merry Christmas Stow family, & thank you for allowing us to follow your incredible story and life. <3

God Bless (:

It's amazing how happy and sad I can be at the same time. So happy to read about the amazing process Bryan is making especially knowing he is communicating with his children along with everyone else. As I'm reading, the sadness kicks in that a situation like this even occurs but with support of Bryans amazing family and friends I have no reason to believe anything but positive things are ahead for Bryan. Give our love from down here in Louisiana and may many blessings be upon you and your family.

So amazing to read about Bryan's continued progress! I saw the video clip that's going around MSN of him speaking and it made me all warm and fuzzy with happiness and pride for someone I've never even met. Bryan, you are doing amazing. Know that you have touched the lives of so many total strangers. Would you have ever believed you'd have daily thoughts and prayers coming your way from a tiny farming town in northwestern MO?? Miracles do happen. Merry Christmas, and may you be home with your family and children soon... Godspeed, man.

I don't know the Stow family, but like so many others, I have followed Bryan's story from day 1. It's so awesome to hear the good updates! I just saw the video clip of his short conversation with the lady from NBC. VERY COOL! I can't even imagine the feelings and emotions that must bring to the people close to him, as it's overwhelming even for me to watch it, knowing how far he's come to be able to have that conversation! Happy holidays to all of you!

Your story really makes me appreciate what I have, how lucky I am, and how every single moment I spend with my wife and kids must be cherished. I was close to being killed in a car accident a few tears back, and it put a great many things into perspective. I am horrified by what happened to you and your family... Just appalled in every sense of the word. I can't fully express in words the anger I feel towards those responsible. I can only hope for swift and appropriate punishment.

Things like this, happening to a family such as yours, make me wish I was a wealthy person, one who could provide some sort of security for you and yours throughout the years to come. While I can't do that, I can hope and wish and pray for a full recovery for you and a life of happiness and enjoyment from here on out.

Best wishes from my family to yours...

Hello!!! You look very happy and it is great that you are talking. I had a brain injury 8 years ago and I am still improving today. And I now you have a long journey in front of you - but because you have such a great family you will get through this. You must have rehab doctors that are working with you - have they looked into an orthopedic doctor for your hands? The only reason I am asking this is I noticed your right hand has been damaged by your brain injury and you should have a orthopedic doctor look at what they might be able to do in this area. Again you look great!!! Beth

I was pleased to see Bryan and family on Rock Center this evening. It is a good thing to keep his story out there where everyone can see how senseless violence can destroy so much. Bryan looked handsome, motivated and strong. I'm sure he gets much of that strength from his family and that will get him through this. I pray for you all regularly as your situation is similar to my children's father and brings back many memories, some good, some not so much. After the therapies, there was much more good, so hang in there. He has a wonderful, strong and loving family and he will come through this. God Bless you all and have a Merry Christmas!

You look so handsome and strong! Truly a testatment to your prior physical condition, and your family's persistence and action to keep you moving and doing.

Bryan, we think about you every day. I pray for you all the time, and I'm so happy for you and your family and especilly your children to have you with them today. Watched Rock Center last night and wanted to say how much it meant to me, someone who doesn't know your family personally, but is a fellow die hard Giants fan, and feels like I know you all deeply. Seeing Bryan up and speaking a little and looking handsome really touched me and my family! Prayers are an amazing thing and miracles do happen. Hi Bryan! I am actually reading an update for the first time. I had heard your story but with so much here just never got to check on you. So glad to hear you are doing better and your families love is a huge part of that. Three yrs ago my now 24yr old son suffered an severe TBI as a result of an auto accident. He was in a coma for almost 3 months! He is still progressing and his determination amazes me sometimes..How he does it some days is beyond me. I read the part about your feet and hand sensitivity, my son has a heightened sense on his feet, just jumps when you touch them. He is learning to stand on his own with a walker after 2 operations and doesnt talk much and cant eat solid food but like you he never gives up! This family is praying for you daily and know that if you ever have a question feel free to let me know. I will check in on you and your progress, God Bless you and yours and remember your strength is beyond anything doctors can measure..Dont let them tell you, you cant or wont do something. Stay strong and prayers to you all! Blessings, Angela and Damon!

I have to say that I have mixed emotions at seeing Bryan on television. I know that his name and story has to be out there but I was really sad to see that his still has so far to go and that there may be no end to this road. Hello Stow Family, watched the video posted on SFGate that aired the other evening but I had missed. Incredible is the only word that comes to mind. Wanted to wish you all the blessing of the season, remembering how we were taught that the greatest gift is love. Sending love and prayers to you and continued healing for Bryan's body. Take time for yourselves as Bryan would not want you neglecting own well being. With love and hugs, Michelle

I could not wait to watch and see Bryan's interview on Rock Center. Amazing!!!! Stow family you are constantly in my prayes and thoughts, daily!!!!! I find my self watching it over and over. The smile on Bryan's face with a little twinkle in his eye. Keep the faith. You have made remarkable progress. This is a true tragedy. No human deserves to be beat up within an inch of his life. No one. Sad to think if these thugs who did this very inhuman thing to you if convicted will only get about 4-5 years, while Bryan has a LIFE SENTENCE. Sad, very sad. Love ya Stow and many blessings for the holiday season. God Bless.

So sorry I'm a couple days late, but Mary Christmas dearest Stow Family (spelled that way on purpose for our loving Mother who watches over us all and prays for us daily). I recently saw a special on television covering the story of a teenage girl who was severely injured in a terrible car accident. She had to relearn how to do EVERYTHING, including swallowing and the prognosis from the doctors was not good - too much damage to her brain. However, she now not only walks, talks and swallows on her own - she is back to CHEERLEADING at her high school!!! I wanted to share this with you because as we know, the doctors can only predict the best that they can with the information and knowledge available to them - however - a higher power has all the answers and is the one in charge. Never lose hope my dears - I know I won't. Much love to Bryan and all of you. May this New Year bring you all that you wish and dream of.
Much love,
Julie

Like you, I love baseball, and because of you, Opening Day will never be the same for me again. I think of you often, but that's as far as it gets. This time though, I was able to reach you. God bless you, your family, and those who care for you.

Ann-wishing you a very happy Mother's Day. I am sure days like this are incredibly bittersweet, but how wonderful that you have all your strong and wonderful family around you to help with the tough times. I think of The Great Hodge and his family every day and continue to send you all love, support and strength. Of course we all saw Tyler throw out the first pitch and it was a beautiful site! I know one day we will see Bryan at a game, doing the same thing. Until that day, never give up hope!!!! Much love from Forest Ranch, CA

We're all still thinking of you Bryan. Saying prayers for U and your family often. I still have my candle with ur ribbon on the front and it says, get well Bryan. We look forward to the updates and we look forward in seeing improvements with U. We did see your son throw out the first pitch on Giants opening day. Even though I'm a Dodger fan, I was still able to see this most touching event. It was also nice to see U on the big screen with your Mother. Your FOREVER in our thoughts and prayers. Take care, Bryan Stow...

Were your ears ringing Sat, May 5th? We were all thinking of you and looking at the picture we have on the wall with you holding your Giants quilt. Even if you weren't with us in person, you were with us in spirit. Hope you get the results of the tests back soon. All of us here are thinking of all of you there!

Hello to the Stow Family and supporters,
I woke up this morning thinking about Bryan Stow, and how senseless and hurtful acts of violence have impacted you. I decided to search online for Bryan's health update and found this wonderful website. Thank you for letting us all know how Bryan is doing. I just want you to know that you have another supporter and I send my love and encouragement for your daily struggles and wins. :o)
I love seeing the videos and listening to the songs you post for Bryan. You've never given up and that is truly love in action. I will continue to look for fundraising events and other ways to support. I have donated through the website, and know that the money goes to a VERY worthy cause. God bless and know that everything will be alright. With love, Gretchen Vogel
(p.s. if you need help, I live in Cupertino and would be happy to lend a hand- just let me know how!)

Dear Bryan and Family,

We are students in the On Track program, a program for adults with brain injuries. We are all learning how to cope with our brain injuries, just like you are doing today.

We have traveled the same rocky road that you are traveling, DON’T GIVE UP! You are not alone, have hope. We have watched each other improve in areas that we never thought possible; we are now reading, writing, talking and finding our way through this new life. Keep trying no matter how long it takes.

From our experience we have learned that the road to recovery is tough, but it is worth the fight. The brain is incredible! Believe in yourself.

“The brain is programmed to create and we are all but children of the universe” – Eric, On Track student.

Sincerely,

The On Track Program

Hey Bryan, I didn't mean to get this behind on checking in. Greetings from the Lone Star State, and in particular, good ole HOT West Texas. Our Spring certainly didn't last long, and here we are into Summer. Have already had hundred degree plus days here and no rain. But thankfully, the tornadoes have passed us by.

It was sooooooo cool to read about your son on opening day at your home park. Good for him. He's like his daddy no doubt.I know all of your family as well as you are most proud of that day. What a wonderful memory for all time.

My son, who is with AMR in Jackson, MS, is back on the ambulance after his arm injury. He really got tired of being confined to desk duty. Hopefully the arm is 100 per cent and he doesn't injure it again any time soon.

Keep up with your therapy and know we all support you and your efforts. God's still driving your ambulance and things are moving along according to his plan. Just keep the faith.

Gentle breezes on the wings of the Angels atop the West Texas winds and to God in heaven. Georgana

Hi Stow Family,
I look forward to new updates on Bryan, no matter when you get the chance to post them. It doesn't take a website update to help me to remember Bryan's struggle, and to pray for him and all of you. Keep strong and carry on. Good job, Tyler!! Keep Bryan's story in the media to remind the public to pray, or to just be better human beings.
Love from Carleen in Vancouver WA

God bless the Stows!
