News & Updates

Hi everyone. A lot has happened since we last wrote. Right now Bry is in the hospital with a large blood clot that reached from his thigh to his pelvis. He was first admitted last week and was immediately put on several blood thinners and then was released. The swelling didn’t go down and he was in a lot of pain. He was sent via ambulance to the ER and was again admitted Wednesday. He had a procedure done to have a filter put in his abdomen to catch any clots from breaking off and going into his lungs. They also did an injection in his vein to help dissolve the clot and prevent any others.  He’s expected to be in the hospital at least through the weekend. Needless to say, we are scared and worried. We thought we were past the point of being afraid of Bryan even surviving. The doctor told Bonnie last night that due to the size and hardness of the clot, he is surprised it didn’t kill him. Really tough words to hear and now that Bryan is more aware of what’s going on, he’s scared too. We have always tried to shield him from knowing too many of these hard details, but now we just have to deal with it with him and try to stay positive.

So we are asking for some prayers right now. Bry has a huge support system (you!) and knowing that along with his strength and perseverance, he will get through this.

My dear family...I am at a loss of words because I too thought phew! The scary stuff is over!! Bryan is a fighter and he will get through this just as he has overcome the all of his obstacles so far! If there was an Olympic medal for fighting for your life, I think Bry would get the gold : ) Bonnie I'm sure you agree!
I love you my Stow family and from the bottom of our hearts prayers are flooding you all!!

I'm so sorry that this is happening to you. Bryan I wish there was some way to make it all go away for you. You are such a wonderful person. I'm glad you were able to get into the ER fast and they will take care of you and make sure you are ok. Don't worry the staff there loves you as much as we do. They just can't play favorite with the pt. but trust me you are their favorite.

dear Family,
Wow! again another fear for you; for the Dr to say theose words 'surprised it didn’t kill him' that was hard to read. Like you I thought Bry was not going to have to deal with this near death stuff again. He should know he will be in my prayers as you are. I strongly feel for Bry it's on a need to know basis. I think the less he knows the better. However he has a right to know if he ask. Just give him what he ask for and nothing more. You don't know fully how the information is process in his mind and if he is laying there he might be replaying what you have said to him over and over again and that will build up so much fear. I really hope you mom is not alone. She need someone too. Sending much <3

Hi Bryan,

I am praying that you will get over this hurdle. Trust in those providing you care and the prayers of all of those of us who have been following your story since day 1.

Dear Lord,

Please protect and heal Bryan from this, the latest setback in his journey toward health. May your calming and caring arms settle around him and his family, showing them your incredible love and healing.

In Jesus name I pray,

Bryan, You can beat this. God isn't ready for you, yet. He still has ALOT of building to do on your castle. He said, to check back with him in about 60 years. He might be done then. LUV you Bryan

I'm praying for Bryan to pull through this one as well as the many others he have fought and won.

Christian Scientists regard Jesus as a savior and "wayshower": through him people may enjoy a share of the sonship of God, and salvation from sin, sickness and death.

Christian Science regard this as exemplifications of the healing power that stems from the correction of mental error.

Jesus was the practical demonstration of the spiritual power, a master healer who saved humans from sin, sickness, and death. His miracles were 'natural demonstrations of divine power,' a force available to any one with correct knowledge.

I don;t know you but I love you.... Please hang on....

I've been thinking about Bryan the past few days, and I kept meaning to come here and check for an update, but somehow it just didn't happen. It's not unusual for Bryan to pop into my thoughts (and judging from the comments, I am not alone in that) so I didn't really think much of it. But then this morning I saw an article on Tim Flannery's concerts, and mention was made of Bryan's hospitalization for a blood clot. I still didn't realize how serious it was until I finally came over here and saw the latest update.

Wow, I'm so sorry you folks have to be scared and worried - again. It's really not fair after all you have been through. I'm glad you can take a little comfort from knowing that so many people are pulling for Bryan and for your family - just look at all the comments in this one thread!

We're all pulling for you, Bryan, and we're all aggrieved at what you've had to endure. All you can do is give it your best shot, one day at a time. Here's hoping you're out of the hospital by now and back to your care facility (home!) where you can rest and recuperate. You deserve a break, sir.

As always, I'd like to thank the Stow family for this latest update. You guys are very kind to share so much of your journey with the public.

Thank you for sharing and yea we know you been kinda of busy so don't ever feel the need to say sorry. It's great that Bryan will be taken care now wit the settlement I would assume it makes your parents and (you two) feel better know he is going to get the care he needs and should have. Not sure if you will be able to put his behind you but, it can move to the side or the back of your mind and your family can maybe somehow focus on their own life for a while. No amount of $ or time serve from the SOB will change anything. Bryan has a new normal. Try to break the OCD if you can. IT's a nightmare. Get him help for that. Usually when they get on mental disorder then more come to follow, keep an look out. Give him lots of love and no matter what and where your family is being though of

Hi again, Bryan!
It always touches my heart to visit your site and it's beautiful to see how much love and support is present. You and your family are an amazing inspiration. Much appreciation!

If you're in town, you may enjoy this awesome event, coming up on July 19th. I’ve volunteered for Shared Adventures Day on the Beach events – some of the best days of my life. Hope to see you there!

Day on the Beach, the highlight of each year, where people with special needs and volunteers team up to share a full day of kayaking, outrigger canoeing, SCUBA diving, beach wheelchair rides, and life-changing memories. Day on the Beach has given participants and volunteers an unforgettable experience of breaking through barriers and seeing dreams become reality.
Generous volunteers lay down over 170 pieces of plywood on frames, creating a unique 5,700 square foot platform on the beach that enables those with mobility issues to travel over the sand with ease to all of our activities. We also offer beach wheel chair rides as an opportunity to explore the beach in a new way!
Every year we have free live music and entertainment, free food, sandcastle building, and much more! Participants represent a diverse range of ages (4 to 83 years old), and come from across the state and even the country to attend.
The 22nd annual Day on the Beach will be July 19th, 2014.

With heart and big hugs from Santa Cruz.

I am so very thankful the jury verdict was in your favor. I pray it brings all of you some relief both that the stress of not knowing court-wise is over and simply in general with (I hope) being able to relax a little more. As someone else so beautifully said, I, too, thank you Bryan and family for allowing all of us to love and support you. You are all in my prayers and very best wishes. I know God is forever keeping close watch over you, too. Sending hug and love always.

Thank goodness that some semblance of justice rang through Los Angeles today! I am sorry that the jury did not see fit to award a higher penalty to the team, but I think/hope it's enough to meet your needs until you meet a higher ground. Thank you for letting us love you - because we do! We are still with you!

Dear Bryon,
I want to say to you that you are brave and that you have the divine right to feel joy, i know what happened to you for i have a daughter Shea that was hurt really bad on jan 8, 2011 she was a pedestrian walking and was hit by a car on Bascom and camden she was shy of 16 at the time and now she is 19. I heard the news today, the case that you and your amazing family were fighting for went in your favor, i'm so happy that at least you have some sense of freedom, your mom and dad will rest a bit now, I hope you go on cruises with you children Hawaii would be easy enough for all of you to go on. there is no amount of money that could change what happened to you. my daughter doesnt sit up to well and she doesnt speak, she is beautiful and strong and she wants to keep on loving I know i can see it in her eyes. No matter what Bryon you are so loved and i know you know that. Never give up remember one love one heart, Bob Marley.
go visit Shea on her website, its SheasHope Foundation. god bless you
