UPDATE 6:07 PM PST -

Bryan is scheduled for another surgery on Thursday or Friday. His brain is collecting fluid so a shunt needs to be put in the cranium at the center of the brain and it will be snaked down through his stomach to drain. The abdomen will hopefully absorb the fluid.

We met with the head neurologist this morning and Bryan's surgeon yesterday... both agree that Bryan is not responding to stimulation as much as he should be.

In a meeting today, it was decided to start lowering the 8 medications he is on. The main objective is to keep Bryan from experiencing major seizures.

He has been having seizure spikes but the doctors cannot keep "chasing" those and still expect to try to check his reactions.

So again we wait.. and pray.

Dear God, I know we are all your children and that sooner or later you call us all home. Please look into your heart and see that right now we need Bryan here with us more then you need him in heaven. We hope that he will soon show signs that he is coming back and that you God has listened and decided that Bryan is better off with his family, friends and people like me who have never met him. This man has brought hundreds of thousands of people together with one hope, that he wakes up and returns to all of us. <3

We'll continue to pray for God to bring Bryan back to us.

I guess as it says in Ecclesiastes, THERE IS A TIME. I just wish Bryan's time was sooner.

As Sweets Marin put it Bryan has put us together.

I can't wait until he wakes up and see all the love being sent is way and a lot of what I hope is when he wakes up and says 'Mom, I'm hungry'

Are you recording his snoring so that you can play it back for him?

Love being sent from me and Sophie Yellow Labbie, Matthew Black Labbie and Auggie Doggy Golden Retriver.

Heavenly Father: All of us thank you for the gift of love and of life. We thank you for our blessings, for being a family of faith. We ask that you continue to be with this family as they wait for the miracle of body and blood from Your holy hands. Grant them strength and faith as they wait for Bryan to wake and be the Bryan again that they know and love. Please hear our prayers as we pray in the name of YOUR precious son and our blessed Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ . Amen.
Be strong...God is with you all.

I too am a father of two children and they are such an important part of my life that I know Bryan wants to be back with his soon. I am not much of a praying man but I pray for Bryan and want so badly for him to come back to his children completely. This is such an injustice that even though Bryan will recover, justice will not have been served without finding the thugs that committed this viscous crime.

First, what a great example of family you all are setting!! The Stow family have stayed together, prayed, laughed and shared so much in the past weeks. I would understand if you were to take this as a "set back" however you don't and that is fantastic. It shows that you truly are dedicated to being there for each other through this very difficult time. We just have to continue to believe, hope and pray that Bryan will wake up from this. I will never stop praying and believing that Bryan will be ok, will wake up and will recover from this. Please do not hesistate to ask for anything that you might need today, tomorrow or down the road. The Los Angeles community is here for you and willing to help however possible.

Hopefully the surgeons will find what is causing the seizures. We've been praying a lot for the Stow family and Bryan. It might take another doctor or team of doctor's with a fresh look at what's going on with those seizures and they come up with a diagnosis. Second and third opinions are good. When all is good, and Bryan comes out of this ok ~ hoping he's completely normal and doesn't remember anything other than who won the baseball game!

This is so heartbreaking. Please, PLEASE hang in there. Brain injuries are unpredictable and while he may not be responding as the doctors hope, things could turn around tomorrow. I've heard some crazy stories about these injuries and the unexpected turns of events that happen. He has so many people praying for him. Hang in there.

Visitors to this site, I just want to share a story about how easy it is to donate to the Bryan Stow fund. I did it yesterday. I was walking by the Police Credit Union branch next to the Hall of Justice in San Francisco. I saw a sign on the door regarding the fund. I popped in, donated $20.00 and was on my way in 5 minutes. I'm sure it's even easier to do it online. This money is important -- he is in the hospital 400 miles from home and I'm sure you can imagine the costs involved in having his family at his bed side. If you haven't donated yet, take a minute to do so. Paramedics are there for us when we need them and we should do the same.

I won't argue that Bryan's surgeon and the neurologist both have a great deal of knowledge and experience as physicians, but I know the Great Physician and his knowledge and experience far surpasses all others. His hands are on Bryan at this moment restoring the nerves, cells and every fiber of his being and I continue to believe, by the blood of Jesus, that he is completely and totally healed. I call those things which are not as though they were. Continue to stay strong and be at peace Stow family as we all stand in the gap for your precious Bryan. Love.

Praying everyday for Bryan and his family. I know from personal experience what it's like to have a family member with a brain injury. For me it was my mother...and I never thought she would ever wake up and come home. I know what it's like to be told that the next 24 hrs are make or break and that she will either wake up or she won't....well thank God she did!! When she came home she had no memory of anything about her children, she couldn't walk or see and she couldn't feed or dress herself. That was 16 yrs ago and today she knows exactly who her children are, she walks (and drives!!!), and her eyesight is sometimes better than mine! There is no doubt that you have all walked a long road already and it is going to get longer but there is so much hope for recovery as our God works in mysterious ways. NEVER GIVE UP AND HOLD TIGHT TO ONE ANOTHER!!! Always in my prayers!

Oh how I know this waiting game. It's excrutiating. I pray that the angels sit upon your shoulders while you wait this out. It is most difficult and frustrating. The most important thing is that you NEVER give up those positive thoughts and keep up your vigil for Bryan. He will pull out. It can take weeks but you are a close family surrounded with love and support from friends and strangers alike. Stay together and stay strong Stow family. You will all pull through this.

I've been praying for Bryan. My daughter was in LAC+USC Hospital in ICU two years ago from a gunshot wound to the back. She has miraculously recovered very well. She is fully mobile. Her lingering symptom is pain which is controlled by medication. Bryan is in the hands of the best trauma team. I am eternally grateful to them for saving my daughter's life. I truly believe in the power of prayer. God is working in those doctors, nurses and staff. He is the doctor of all doctors and healer of all healers. I will continue to pray with you and have faith that with God all things are possible.

I received my bracelet today, I am wearing it right now and I am sending some good energy to you Bryan and Family. Don't ever give up, you keep up the faith and the fight. My brother was in a serious motorcycle accident 10 years ago and was in a coma for 3 months and we never gave up and he is with us today. So keep positive and know that there are so many people supporting you right now, this story just touched my heart. You all take care of each other and keep fighting that fight.

Please don't let anything anyone, doctors or anyone else, allow your faith and hope that he'll get better falter. Even if the MDs are doing their best, there are only so many people in the world who have suffered similar situations, so I'm not sure what they're comparing him to when they say..."he's not responding as he should?" Is there a "standard case with a set time" to which they are comparing him?... I'm not sure such a thing exists as everyone is different. The point is everyone heals at different rates and in different ways. Maybe his body is still healing itself and didn't want to take its focus off self-healing to waste unnecessary energy on responding to stimulation just yet.

Please just stay positive, visualize him playing again with his kids and hanging out and joking with family, and stay hopeful and confident you will witness his full and total recuperation. We are all still praying for him across the country and around the world, and staying focused on the end goal of his complete. With God all things are possible; we just have to be patient for God’s chosen time.

God bless you and stay strong,

Don't ever lose hope and always believe. My Timmy didn't respond to stimulation and was pretty much written off by the medical staff. He responds now ;)

And now I'm remembering how it was. Every minute by his bedside hoping for something to prove he was there and coming back. I remember after he was transferred to Kaiser a few months into his injury and his brother and sister in law holding his eyes open and shining a light just hoping and willing some kind of pupil reaction. (of course I don't suggest you do that). We didn't get that reaction for months and then he slowly started opening one eye. He was considered in a vegetative state after that and we were told he wasn't aware of what was going on. He was tracking people... watching them walk around the room and even knew when someone came in the room before we did. Still, the medical staff wasn't encouraging. And then one day, I walked in and said "hey let's watch a little TV", because I talked to him like he WAS there. Immediately, he slowly turned his head towards the TV where I found a Giants game. He watched the entire game. The first time he ever stayed awake that long. It's long and slow, but just keep believing. I pray every day that Bryan wakes up and recovers quickly. Timmy still has a long road ahead of him, he's still bed ridden, but he communicates in his own ways and smiles and laughs a lot. And I hope for even more for Bryan.

I pray that you all find the strength you need to continue to have faith & be patient. I can relate to how hard it is to not know what tomorrow may bring & you just have to sit & wait for a recovery to happen. I lost my sister 6 years ago due to a brain trauma & it was the most difficult thing I have ever experienced in my life! Being at the hospital 24/7, not completely understanding what is happening & seeing someone you love in a coma. But I believe Bryan knows you are all there so keep the faith & may god soon give you back your Bryan. I am so sorry.

y Words cannot express the heartfelt thoughts and prayers that go out to your family. Without knowing Bryan, I absolutely know that he will beat this. He has to. He has far too many people keeping him in their every thoughts. You are a brave and supportive bunch. Amazing what this kind of thing brings out in people. I have seen kindness and generosity beyond belief. Bryan has held us all captive with his amazing story and family life and friendships. And now he has more friends than he will ever know what to do with. Honestly, this kind of bonding between....Giants and Dodgers, standing on the same baseball field, side by side.....hmmm....can only say History In The Making.....nice how good can come of bad like this....Now We Just Need Bryan to Heal and Be Well Again....looking forward to that sigh of relief. God Bless you Bryan Stow....and may God Speed !!!!

soome family members alerted me to what happened and eventhough i live in canada i wanted to let you know that i believe that there is a reason the this great young man was hurt - there is a season - and there there is a place just under heaven that he can be in - maybe he will be able to stay with his family - i sure hope so - if not - be glad that he was there for a season of life - but with so many prayers and all i think he just needs the time to heal his brain - I am sure the soul is willing but the body is a tad weak just now - please talk to him and have others always telling him what is going on with childrren and happy memories and anything positive you can - seen it work for others - Godd will bless and take care of all of you!

It's astonishingly humbling reading these posts. I don't pray like so many of you good folks here do, but I confess I've been deeply hoping for a miracle. I learned some weeks ago just how serious Bryan's brain injury is, so this latest development can't be considered surprising or unexpected. It's just part of the healing process.

I want to add that it's very inspiring reading all the posts from people who have experienced traumatic brain injuries or who have helped a family member who suffers similarly. You know, I've got jury duty in the morning, and earlier this evening I was feeling sorry for myself; but now I feel deeply lucky just to be able to swing my legs out of bed tomorrow, make a cup of coffee, and go off to do my civic duty. I'll think of you tomorrow, Bryan Stow. Fluid in the cranium is a natural side effect of damaged tissue; all you have to do is hang in there long enough to let your body heal the injury. Go, Bryan!

Thank you so much for continually giving us updates. One of the first things I do every morning and one of the last things I do every night is check here to see if there have been any changes. I sigh and rejoice right along with you. I've never met Bryan, but I do know Matt and I feel like Bryan has become a part of my family. I continue to pray for him, his family and friends every morning and I know that God hears our prayers. Bryan is still here with us and I feel like God has more planned for him. Being in healthcare requires being a different special kind of person. God put us on earth for our ability to be able to care for others in horrible situations while being calm, making the patient feel like everything will be ok because of you! Bryan you have those special kind of people caring for you too! Take your time and wake up when your body lets you! Be prepared your story has made its way across the world. We will continue to pray for you, your children and your family, this has taken a toll on everyone around you. Guardian angels please stay by Bryan until he is ready to open his eyes, and let him come awake on a day that everyone needs a little uplift! This world you live in loves you and prays for you!

Sitting at my desk at work I though of a passage from the Gospel Of Matthew 8:23-27

And when he got into the boat his deciples followed him. A great windstorm arose on the sea, so great that the boat was being swamped by the waves, but he was asleep. And they woke him up saying "Lord save us! We are parishing " And he said to them "Why are you afraid, you have little faith? The he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea; and threre was a dead calm. They were amazed, saying "What sort of man is this that the winds and sea obey him?

I guess we don't need to be afraid, God will take care of Bryan for us. I have to be honest, this is easier said than done.

Come on Bryan, you can do it, you can come back to us. You still have lives to save and sisters to tease.

NEVER GIVE UP.

This should have never happened. It's horrifing. My most sincere wishes of hope and humanity to the family. I don't have much but I'm going to send a little. I'm urging everyone on my e-mail list (260 persons) to do the same. Remember no one is responsible for his healthcare but you. Be assertive, even rude if you need to be. Do some reasearch on the web. Try feeding him some comfery. It is called knitbone and has great healing ablilties.

Also I hope the people that beat this man are held accountable and givin the maximum sentence. I also suggest you haunt them. Take pictures of him and the damage. Send pictures of him with his family. Tell them in the most heart fealt way how much you love him and why. Tell them how his condition has affected you personally. Address their empathy and make them feel as bad as you do. Reform them with guilt.

Oh, I just teared up again. Bryan, we are all praying for you. It's been so painful knowing that all this time, he's been fighting a battle he should never, ever have had to fight, and that his loved ones are dealing with this every day and hour.

We're praying. We've been praying. Hang on, Bryan. Please get well. All the best to your family.

I wish we could offer more than just words, prayers, and donations for a selfless guy (EMT!) who gave so much more.

I have been following the progress on Bryan since this happened. I'm from CA. yet live in NC now. I have always been a huge Dodgers fan and so was my husband. I am so saddened by these cowardly poor excuses for a human being that did this to your son/brother. I pray that Bryan will recover and be able to look into the eyes of his beautiful children and smile. Thank you for sharing the progress with those of us that are out here on the side lines supporting and praying for Bryan and you family!

Get well soon, Bryan. We Giants fans are behind you all the way. Catching the thugs who did this doesn't really matter to your recovery. All that matters is you getting well again and continuing your life, whatever it may be. You have a wonderful gift of service and the whole community suffers when one of the "good guys" is out of service. God has great plans for you. It's not that I don't want the thugs caught, of course I do. Catching them just won't help you to recover and your recovery is more important than jail time for some street trash.
I pray for you, your family, your nurses, doctors and care providers. Bless you all.

good morning stow family my thoughts and prayers are with you and bryan unsure if he had the surgury yet. Again going through a similar situation with my husband of 16 years and two children and him being only 33,i know there is not much to say i know you all probably feel lost, lonely, confused, mad, scared for the outcome. I know everyone says have faith god has a plan, and then you start questioning your own faith. If you are having some of the same feelings i was having dont God is with you and yes it doesnt make sence but he does make miracles my husband is one. Everytime i look at bryan he reminds me so much of my husband not from the 90's (lol). again i dont think its fair anyone has to endure so much pain, i remember the long days that you forget to keep track of, wondering how my children are doing (14) and (12) at the time. aching for them just hoping he would soon wake up and remember who we were. and he did. yes he did suffer brain damage and yes it is a difficult road that most people that dont have to experience it will never understand. i will pray for your strenghth in all this and i always keep bryan and his children in my prayers. and please friends and family do not stray from them. i know life goes on but their little lives will be changed forever. plz promise that to bryan

While I know this isn't the same kind of neurosurgery (in my case it was spinal cord surgery), in order to avoid flluid from traveling up to my brain I had a tube called what I think is called a Becker tube inserted in to my lower spine.

I had this tube to drain fluid for about 5-6 days and recovered very nicely.

I hope this bit about the tube to drain fluid out of Bryan's brain will help a little.

I'm still praying through out the day.

Please let us know when Bryan is out of surgery.

Hello Bryan and family,
My stepfather was injured in a car accident on August 9, 2010. He had suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of another driver going through a stop sign. Immediately after the accident we were told that he was registering a 4 on the Glasgow coma scale (almost no brain activity whatsoever) and that his pain receptors weren't responding. We were offered no assurances that he would ever awaken from his state, much less live through the surgery needed after the accident.

He underwent surgery to remove skull fragments from his brain. He was in the ICU for 3 weeks and in a coma for weeks after that. We sat through big spikes and drops in blood pressure, increases and decreases in the intracranial pressure, temperature, etc.....the whole gambit. The dr's vascillated between giving lots of medication to keep him relaxed and lowering the dosage to see whether he could dig out of the coma on his own. Everytime I hear about your story it brings me back to mine last year.

In early November 2010, 3 full months afte the accident, my stepfather was discharged from the hospital with all of his mental faculties together. He's finished therapy and already begun driving. The Dr's and the nurses are in awe of the extent of his recovery.

While we don't know what the future holds, I guess that my reason for contacting you is to share my story and let you know that sometimes miracles do happen. In times like this please know that there are others who are thinking of you and praying for you and Bryan's recovery. All the best...

I have prayed and sent light to your family and to Bryan every day since the attack; and being an avid Dodger fan felt compelled to attended the vigil for him outside USC. I am crushed over this, especially upon learning that it was Bryan's first visit to Dodger Stadium. I know that very feeling of anticipation to watch your team in the opposing team's hometown and am devastated that it became such a nightmare. I too was so excited to be at our home opener this year, but now that memory is overshadowed by the ugliness that caused Bryan to be in his current state. To honor your son, I shut my phone off entirely while I'm at the games now, and I will keep the faith that once Bryan ia recovered, he will enjoy a lifetime of following his team to our nations greatest ball parks. Thank you for putting up this website, so that we can follow his progress. You will stay in my prayers.

Im a 41 years old & a Dodger fan since birth. As such, I have harbored as avid a loathing for the Giants as has anyone. That being said, my support goes out to Bryan, as does my experssions of shame and embarassment that, as much as I have developed a "healthy loathing" of the Giants over my decades on this planet, its shameful and embarassing that someone would encite violence twards another person and pervert those "healthy loathings" that are part of the fabric of American sport. All loathing of all orange and black aside Bryan, Dodger fans like myself all over the country are saddened and ashamed that someone, seemingly acting in support of my team, could commit such an act. Baseball ia a great game and this act was a perversion of all that is great about it. Hang in there Bryan. This event has caused me to somewhat reevaluate my loating of the giants and maybe has served to put it all in a beter perspective for me. You have our support. Hang in there.

Prayers for your family. A family I know recently went through a similar situation (though not due to the same causes) and blogged about it. It's the story of Joanne Heim. At the age of 38, she had a massive stroke this past January and was in a medically induced coma for several weeks.
You can read what they went through on her blog http://thesimplewife.typepad.com/.
She has made amazing progress. If you need a little encouragement, I suggest checking it out.
Again, prayers for you and yours.

I'm a native of Los Angeles and have lived here for 50 years. I'm not really into baseball, but when I saw the story of what happened on the news, it just made me sick. Sick and full of sadness that this happened in my city and to such a seemingly wonderful guy.

I love S.F. and was at a Giants game not too long ago and it was wonderful! Great people, great stadium, great city!

I hope you know by now how much the people of Los Angeles are sickened by this incident and how much care about Bryan and hope that he makes it through ok.

My thoughts are with you.

IT HONESTLY BREAKS MY HEART TO KNOW HOW SOME PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD ARE...THIS IS A RIDICULOUS, SHAMELESS, HEARTLESS AND UNNECESSARY ACT, THAT HAPPENED WHY????? REGARDLESS OF THE REASON, IT DOES NOT GIVE ANYONE THE RIGHT TO DO SOME CRAP AS THIS. IT'S REALLY SAD PEOPLE CAN'T GO OUT AND ENJOY THEMSELVES WITHOUT PEOPLE TAKING CRAP PERSONAL.....YOU HEAR ABOUT THIS SO MUCH AND LIFE SHOULD NOT BE THIS WAY. WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO ENJOY LIFE WHEREVER, HOWEVER WE WANT AND TREAT EACH OTHER WITH RESPECT AND UNDERSTAND THAT OUR DIFFERENT INTEREST DOES NOT MAKE ANYONE BETTER THAN THE OTHER, AND WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO RESPECT THAT IN A MATURE WAY......MY HEART AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY.....MAY GOD KEEP HIS LOVING ARMS AROUND YOU AND BLESS YOU WITH THE STRENGTH YOU NEED.

Ann-wishing you a very happy Mother's Day. I am sure days like this are incredibly bittersweet, but how wonderful that you have all your strong and wonderful family around you to help with the tough times. I think of The Great Hodge and his family every day and continue to send you all love, support and strength. Of course we all saw Tyler throw out the first pitch and it was a beautiful site! I know one day we will see Bryan at a game, doing the same thing. Until that day, never give up hope!!!! Much love from Forest Ranch, CA

May God continue to ease your pain, guide your mind and your body down the path of healing, and may He comfort your family during this rough time. Obviously, He has a new path for your life to take, and I'm sure He will make it known what that path is! Never give up hope and we're all praying for you here in Columbia, SC!

We were at opening day and we live in Scotts Valley where Tyler and Tabitha go to school. There was not a dry eye in the stadium on opening day. Tyler was amazing and we think about you all often. Wishing for continued recovery to Brian!!!

Bryan and Family,
The Opening Day tribute was wonderful but the day that Bryan is there in person will be the best of all! No, we won't give up! Blessings to all of you! xoxo
Update-4/30/12
We're all still thinking of you Bryan. Saying prayers for U and your family often. I still have my candle with ur ribbon on the front and it says, get well Bryan. We look forward to the updates and we look forward in seeing improvements with U. We did see your son throw out the first pitch on Giants opening day. Even though I'm a Dodger fan, I was still able to see this most touching event. It was also nice to see U on the big screen with your Mother. Your FOREVER in our thoughts and prayers. Take care, Bryan Stow...

Were your ears ringing Sat, May 5th? We were all thinking of you and looking at the picture we have on the wall with you holding your Giants quilt. Even if you weren't with us in person, you were with us in spirit. Hope you get the results of the tests back soon. All of us here are thinking of all of you there!

Hello to the Stow Family and supporters,
I woke up this morning thinking about Bryan Stow, and how senseless and hurtful acts of violence have impacted you. I decided to search online for Bryan's health update and found this wonderful website. Thank you for letting us all know how Bryan is doing. I just want you to know that you have another supporter and I send my love and encouragement for your daily struggles and wins. :o)
I love seeing the videos and listening to the songs you post for Bryan. You've never given up and that is truly love in action. I will continue to look for fundraising events and other ways to support. I have donated through the website, and know that the money goes to a VERY worthy cause. God bless and know that everything will be alright. With love, Gretchen Vogel
(p.s. if you need help, I live in Cupertino and would be happy to lend a hand- just let me know how!)

Dear Bryan and Family,

We are students in the On Track program, a program for adults with brain injuries. We are all learning how to cope with our brain injuries, just like you are doing today.

We have traveled the same rocky road that you are traveling, DON’T GIVE UP! You are not alone, have hope. We have watched each other improve in areas that we never thought possible; we are now reading, writing, talking and finding our way through this new life. Keep trying no matter how long it takes.

From our experience we have learned that the road to recovery is tough, but it is worth the fight. The brain is incredible! Believe in yourself.

“The brain is programmed to create and we are all but children of the universe” – Eric, On Track student.

Sincerely,

The On Track Program

Hey Bryan, I didn't mean to get this behind on checking in. Greetings from the Lone Star State, and in particular, good ole HOT West Texas. Our Spring certainly didn't last long, and here we are into Summer. Have already had hundred degree plus days here and no rain. But thankfully, the tornadoes have passed us by.

It was sooooooo cool to read about your son on opening day at your home park. Good for him. He's like his daddy no doubt.I know all of your family as well as you are most proud of that day. What a wonderful memory for all time.

My son, who is with AMR in Jackson, MS, is back on the ambulance after his arm injury. He really got tired of being confined to desk duty. Hopefully the arm is 100 per cent and he doesn't injure it again any time soon.

Keep up with your therapy and know we all support you and your efforts. God's still driving your ambulance and things are moving along according to his plan. Just keep the faith.

Gentle breezes on the wings of the Angels atop the West Texas winds and to God in heaven. Georgana

Hi Stow Family,
I look forward to new updates on Bryan, no matter when you get the chance to post them. It doesn't take a website update to help me to remember Bryan's struggle, and to pray for him and all of you. Keep strong and carry on. Good job, Tyler!! Keep Bryan's story in the media to remind the public to pray, or to just be better human beings.
Love from Carleen in Vancouver WA

I agree with everything Paulio said and couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you so much for continuing to keep us all updated. I think we all can agree that the entire Stow family feels like our family now. We all continue to pray for Bryan and send you all as much positive energy as is possible. Keep fighting Bryan! God bless the Stows!
