My first thought reading your update (Tuesday 5/17) was you must be SO tired. Not only has this been a long journey for your beloved Bryan, but a long journey for you. He's using all his strength and focus inward to heal, and yours is towards supporting and loving and worrying. Know that when I send my Reiki prayers each day, it's not just for Bryan's healing but for yours. Your family has been wounded deeply. The wounds have trickled out to many, many strangers who somehow are so connected to this that we feel it in our hearts. But I visualize those strangers, whose wounds in this case are lesser than yours, standing hand in hand in a huge circle surrounding Bryan, his family, his closest friends, his caregivers. That huge circle that is thousands strong is constantly sending strength and love. Remember to tap into that strenght & love when you're feeling tired and stressed and afraid ... We won't let you down, we will be there with support.

The people who did this make me ashamed to be a human...and my heart aches for all of you. So glad to hear you made it close to home with your family. I am praying that this is the place you need to be to start improving on a daily basis. You are with your children and your loved ones. I am sure now that you have left LA we won't be hearing about you on the daily news. I work downtown Los Angeles and I have seen the billboards up and on display. Just this morning, coming in the office - I noticed they even have the billboards posted on the Staples Center electronic billboard which you can see from the 10 and 110 freeways! Let's just pray that they catch these individuals (useless thugs) as soon as possible so that they can get theirs! So thankful to the Stow Family for keeping your Los Angeles Family updated on Bryan's recovery. WILL NEVER GIVE UP and we will continue praying for your recovery! Each time I I see news coverage of Bryan, it brings back many memories as our family once went through a similar situation with my then 19 year old son. He was a victim of a car accident and spent 35 days in a coma with not much hope given to us for him to recover. They thought he would not live and then said if he did he would just be bedridden. I think your family is, as ours was...we felt he would overcome the injuries. I believe Dr's did not give us too much hope trying to ease us into what they felt was coming. We stayed with our son 24 hours a day...and had to fight the hospital policies to do so, but we promised to stay out of their way and keep ourselves under control, we assisted given him baths, etc. We remembered a hospital staffer saying the best chance of him responding would most likely come from contact with a family member or friend. We were told to hang up all kinds of photos beside his bed and we and his close friends complied. We played recorded tapes for him and focused on what he could do, which was have some movement on one side of his body. We also noticed that when the neuro doctor came in and poked him looking for reactions, he would grimmace. We talked to him day after day telling him he needed to focuse on his hand that had a little movement and show the dr. that he could hear us...telling him the dr. did not believe that we were getting responses from him. Eventually he was able to move his fingers enough, on request, to convince the dr. that he was giving the hang loose sign given in Hawaii. We had taken all the kids there when in high school, and the dr. had recently been there. I am happy to report that our son in now married and the parent of 3 beautiful children. Yes, he has short term memory loss and had the logic part of his brain damaged, but thanks to prayers from people around the world, he survived. Our prayers are with you and your family...stay hopeful and positive!

Glad you are home Bryan. Have your family members looked into the International Brain Research Foundation? It is a team of doctors who treat TBI. They have excellent programs in waking patients like Bryan. Pls. stow family. look into it since I think it would be very helpful for Bryan.

Dear Family of Brian... I am writing this quickly as I am the sole caregiver of my son Shaun, who sustained a TBI in October of 2006 and came home January 2008. He was run off the road while driving his motorcycle and was not expected to live. At 18 days we were given the option of taking him off of life support and having him slip away. Even though his dad and I are divorced, we came together and said "that is NOT an option."... Shaun was NON-RESPONSIVE for almost 5 months. I became very involved in the drugs/medication they were giving him while he was in a sub-acute facility. We got him off of the respirator, then the trach and then off of ativan... and 3 days later when I walked in, he said "HI MOM" - and hasn't stopped talking yet... Although my son is non-ambulatory, he is NOT paralyzed and has the opportunity through many years and a very long journey of therapy, to walk again... so I briefly tell you our story, as you and your son Brian, have touched my heart and I say don't give up...

Dear Stow Family,

I am so happy to hear Brian has been moved to SFGH. My husband had a work related injury and was taken by ambulance to SFGH where he was operated on by, Dr. Manley. I can tell you that Brian is in great hands. Dr. Manley is intelligent, down to earth, funny and SUPER cool. I don't know Brian but from what I have heard about him, this seems like a perfect match.

Good luck to you all. I'm still praying everyday for his recovery.

I'm not a religious person and I don't know Bryan...but I pray to whatever God is out there that Bryan gets to return to his childrens lives and watch them grow. The enormity of the love for Bryan from family and strangers should make up for what medicine cannot do, believe in miracles!

This story has touched my heart. The key to this is FAITH. Your families faith along with everyone else that stands in agreement will see you through. It only takes the FAITH of grain of a mustard seed, and continue to walk by FAITH and not by sight. I have more faith now than I had before. I'm happy to hear he is now under the care of Dr. Manley.... to say he is the "best of the best" doesn't quite describe his gift. He saved my life a few years back in regards to my neurological issue. If it wasnt for him, way way too many people wouldnt stand a chance in life with some of the issues people have..... just know that Bryan is in the best possible care out there, without a doubt.

My heart is aching for he and his family. I am waiting for justice but woould just prefer for Bryan to get better.

Dear Stow family,
I was at the A's game tonight and Bryan just pop in my head, i couldn't stop thinking about him. His last thoughts were at a baseball game. I am sure as he is coming off the med's he is hearing sounds around him and I praise Ann for making his room a happy zone. He needs that. His brain is still working it's healing. He is trying to make contact with his family by opening his eyes that is what he can do for now. But soon he will being doing more. It's just a matter of time. One day at a time is all we can ask for.
I want Bryan to wake up I want him to hug his mother and kids ( sisters & father too).
The Stow family is my hero. I am so sorry this happen to you.
I wish some how you could video Bryan opening his eyes so the world can see. I feel like you and him are part of our family. We talk about you like we know you forever.
He is a good person and why this happen to such a good person is beyond me. My only guess is that God is using this to pull us together. He is going to use him to proved that miracles still happen.

I've been following this for so long now. I go on this website everyday, sometimes multiple times just to see if there's an update. I'm praying everything works out for you and your family. I also pray they catch the people who did this and lock them up! I think it's horrible that people act this way, like pure animals.

Praying for God's healing hand on Bryan and for comfort for his family. As said above, this is violent nonsense. We should be able to attend a game, concert, etc without having to worry about being attacked by some idiot. Sorry but I believe the McCourt's have some responsibility for lessening security so they could put more money in their pockets. My heart aches for Bryan and the family. What a senseless, inhumane act on the part of some ruthless, unthoughtful and uncaring people.

I will keep Bryan in my prayers every day. Thank God, I have seen prayers of fervent men and women 'answered'. I finally understand that God has a reason for everything. Thanks to God's grace, He finally helped me to understand that. I will pray that through this awful act and the subsequent prayer of the nation and the world, that Bryan's recovery willl ultimately take place and that somehow God's glory will be evidenced through that recovery.

I don't understand why and how things like this happen but God does know and only He can make sense of this all. May God give the wisdom to all of the doctors, etc. that willl be helping Bryan back to good health. God is surely capable no matter how dim a situation may appear.

We are thinking of Bryan and his family in NC...I pray for his recovery. I look for updates all the time and was happy to find this website. I hear there is a lead on catching these thugs (can't write what I really think of them). I pray they are caught and punished to the fulll extent. To Bryan and the Stow Family - I have been following your story ever since I read it on MSN, the day after it happened and I have been thinking of you and praying for you daily. I am from Kansas City, we are big football fans and are very proud of the fact that fans on both sides can celebrate and enjoy their team while in Kansas City. However, we have been to other stadiums where we weren't as welcome as we try to make visiting fans feel. It is a disgrace and dishonor to fans of all sports that something this tragic has to happen, when all Bryan wanted to do was watch a game, root for his team and enjoy the freedoms we are lucky to have in our country. The people, or cowards and bullies, who did this to him need to have their freedom taken away and be severely punished for what they did. The mark this will make on sports will be forever felt. I hope Bryan makes a full recovery, and that he will one day be able to attend another baseball game. Please know the whole country is rooting for him and your whole family. God will watch over him.

I know what you are going through and I thought it would help you all to hear a bright side of the story. My best friend was in an accident and had suffered brain damage. He was in a coma for 2 weeks. I stood by his bed and talked to him and touched him, and the whole time I told myself that he could hear and feel me. He woke up and has since made a full recovery. He told me that he could feel the presence of people while he was in the coma, so please don't give up hope on Bryan. He knows you are there and he is trying to wake up. Stay right by his side and keep talking to him. I believe that Bryan will wake up and one day will be able to tell you all how he felt your presence while he was in a coma. Just wanted to give you all a bright side of a similar story...Keep up hope!

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene, I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
Other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
That during the low periods of my life,
When I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord, that if I followed you,
You would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
There have only been one set of footprints in the sand.

I was in Long Beach at the time this happened and was devastated to hear of such a random act of violence, what is the world coming to that a sports fan cannot go to an opposing team arena. My thoughts and prayers to the family, Bryan you can overcome this horrible injury. To the individuals who performed this horrible act your judgement day will be coming.

(05-18) 11:54 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- Doctors expressed a measure of optimism today about Bryan Stow, the Giants fan who has been unconscious since being beaten outside Dodger Stadium on Opening Day.

Although Stow remains in critical condition, his seizures have been brought under control, allowing doctors to take him off one of five anti-seizure drugs.

Stow, a 42-year-old paramedic, was moved Monday to San Francisco General Hospital from Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center to be closer to his Santa Cruz home. In Los Angeles, doctors had waged an "epic struggle" to control the seizures that often occur after traumatic brain injuries, Dr. Geoff Manley, chief of neurosurgery at San Francisco General, said today.

As of this morning, Manley said, Stow had not experienced any seizure activity for 30 hours, and had displayed some "primitive functions" such as spontaneously opening his eyes. In coming weeks, Manley said, the hospital will continue to try to taper the medications "so we can understand the true level of his brain function."

Manley said he could not make any predictions about Stow's long-term recovery, but said, "He's making incremental steps and progressing. ... This isn't going to happen next week, and this isn't going to happen next month. What happens is going to happen over time."

To Bryan and his family. This may be premature, but I wanted to let you know that the attention needed for his recovery is most needed after months have passed. I speak from experience. I also had an assault against me. It was very similar. I was knocked to the ground and repeatedly kicked in the head. I was in a coma for 7 days. I am six months removed from that incident and the hardest part has been the latest part. I have been dealing with serious depression issues, changes in my behavior including lack of patience, and it has affected everyone around me, included my young children. I am hoping for a full recovery. I think about Bryan often as we share a similar experience. Everyone who supports Bryan in any way, please remember that after this part, the next part is not any easier. Prayers to Bryan, and his family. Stay strong, and remember to have lots of patience. Brain injuries are very complicated.

This is a horrible thing that has happened to you and your family. You have a long road to recovery. My fiance was assulted and it resulted in a Tramatic Brain Injury, it was and is a long road. I know you're receiving the best medical care possible because I spent many a night in the hallways after my best friend suffered brain trauma. If it weren't for the staff at SFGH/UCSF she would not be here with me today.

I just saw on the internet that Bryan is down to 4 seizure medications and hasn 't had a seizure in 30 hours.

I can't wait until Bryan will hug his family for the first time since this thing happen. Bryan hugging his family will be a big hug for all of us. I doubt if there will be a dry eye when we read this.

A lot of Hail Mary's, Our Fathers and Glory Be's being sent your way.

I'm not even a sports fan, but I am continually drawn to Bryan's story. Having just witnessed my own loved one deal with a brain trauma, the best advice I can give Bryan's loved ones is to keep their faith & to try not to look too far down the road. Any news today is no indicator of what tomorrow will bring.

On sfgate.com's most recent Bryan Stow update article, there was a comment today that said "thousands of people who will never know Bryan or his family are praying for you" which is so true. My family had an experience that didn't involve brain injury but year-long bodily recovery from a car accident and I can understand some of what you're going through. So many people still talk about Bryan - we're thinking about you all the time!

I know God guided me here, my heart goes out to you all. These should of never happened to such a good person, I pray also that the police get who did these to Bryan. My hubby and I are so happy to hear. and read that Bryan is on the road to recovery. I just read that the Dr.s noticed no seizure activity for several hours of monitoring him and other means. In all honesty, more times than not, a story like this would make me very angry and unable to keep my cool. However, violence is not something that should be encouraged with more violence and I am so very sorry to hear what he went through. Please hug his children everyday their daddy is unable too. I was in a deep coma for over two months and I was aware of everything but it seemed to me like I was dreaming. When I came back out of the coma, I recounted things people were saying and doing while I was comatose. PLEASE understand he CAN hear you! He is in there and he is aware! The doctors told my family I was brain dead and they should unplug me but they knew from my lip and eye movements that wasn't true and held on longer! Have faith that he can hear you and he knows you're there!

We have not stopped thinking about you and the ordeal you are going through. Know that you are not alone. Everyone in the Bay Area sends prayers, love and healing thoughts to you. I also send prayers to your parents and family as they support you and help you heal. We went through a traumatic brain injury situation with our 4-year old son this February (he is still recovering but will be OK), and I really really feel for all of you. Keep believing in Brian - he is such a strong person, he will continue to fight to get better. Having all of you there is the best medicine. When our little son was in ICU and in the Hospital, we never left his side, we never took our hands off him, even when he was unconcious. He could feel our presence and that helped him to not be afraid, and to pull through. When we heard about Brian on the News, my husband and I both burst into tears.
