Don't Stop Believing

Hi everyone!
Since getting the lumbar drain last week, Bryan has been more alert and responsive as the days go by. They have the fluid draining really slow so his responses had been pretty minimal...until yesterday. Yesterday we got the most response from Bry to date. He lifted his left leg slightly when asked, he raised his left arm everytime we asked if we could hold his hand, and the best part? Bonnie asked Bryan if she could have a kiss and every time she asked him, he puckered his lips. The final time when she was leaving, Bonnie asked again for a kiss. Bry turned his head towards her, puckered his lips for the kiss, then turned his head back. The nurse was shocked and excited to see that!
**side note from Bonnie: I have never, in my 32 years, thought I would kiss my brother on the lips, let alone that many times. But cant wait to do it again!
**side note from Erin: I couldn't be there to see it, but I never thought I would be jealous of my brother kissing my sister on the lips...regardless, I am chapsticking up for my next visit.

While we are writing this update we are driving to LA so we can't include our song until we get there. The song: Don't Stop Believing. The reason: not only is it Bryan's karaoke song of choice, but we want to say that we have never stopped believing, wont ever stop believing, and please...don't stop believing in Bryan!

This is first time I'm commenting but I've been following Bryan's story from the beginning. Words can't express how happy I am for Bryan and for you, his family, on the progress he's made. That is such wonderful news! I checked back this morning and no new update, and I was feeling a little low myself and reading about Bryan always lifts my spirits... I have followed Bryan's story from the beginning. What started as a story that made me weep for the human race as a whole has turned into my daily look into a miracle. Every time I see an update, it makes my eyes tear up and I am so incredibly happy for Bryan and his family.

The level of support he's received from his family is amazing and his progress is due, in no small part, to their sacrifice and love. I hope none of you ever stop believing, I know I haven't.

You're in our thoughts and prayers here, and you'll remain there long after everything is back to normal.

Praise the Lord for these moments... they would be small moments but in Bryan's case they are huge!!! Being a brain tumor survivor and having had 2 craniotomies, I know that Bryan is struggling on the inside to be able to tell you that he will be OK in time. When he gets a bit stronger, give him a piece of paper & pencil and he may be able to communicate what his is thinking, if only just a word at first. When I couldn't communicate verbally, I was able to write things down. It may help him so he's not so frustrated, I know it did me. I will continue to pray for Bryan and the entire family... With love from Pennsylvania...

I've been following Bryan's story since the day it broke on the news. As a huge baseball fan, the story just broke my heart. I think of Bryan and his family often and pray for his recovery. It's the little things that really make you smile and give you the hope that you need to get through this. I remember those moments when my husband was coming out his head injury as well. I'm glad to hear that the drainage tube is doing its job. I'm looking forward to seeing more funny stories like this one. Maybe tomorrow he'll stick his tongue out at you or make googly eyes at you. It really will puts a smile on your face when these things happen. Every week will bring something different.

YESSSS!!! I've been waiting a long time to read some news like this. Poster Kristy, a few posts above this one, said basically everything I planned to say: "As a huge baseball fan, the story just broke my heart. I think of Bryan and his family often and pray for his recovery." Yes, that about sums it up. I'd been waiting for an update from you guys all week and when one didn't come I began to fear that Bryan hadn't been able to make any progress. I'm so glad I was wrong... it looks like I'm the guy who needs to be told to "don't stop believing." (Love that song BTW... that song was on the first album I ever bought, way back when I was like 10 years old... Bryan's not much older than me.)

I'm crying happy tears for a man I don't know and most likely, will never meet. But my son, Scott Rogers, knows Bryan from work. Scott's an ER nurse at San Jose Regional and said in the very beginning that Bryan was a super guy.
I hope his recovery continues to be positive and by God's Grace he will be able to return to the work he loved.
Scott said that he sees hundreds of Paramedics and that Bryan stood out as one of B*E*S*T!!!

Wow... that's such awesome news.

Our family went thru something similar, last year, with our middle son. Our Brian was even at the same neuro center @ UCSF. They are amazing.
My son's condition doesn't compare with all that Bryan has been thru.... not in the least, however, I know what it feels like to experience every positive thing, as well as every negative thing that they do on a daily basis.

Bryan is in there.... the prayer are working... there's just no doubt about that. What happening now is out of the hands of mere mortals... and in the arms of a much higher power.

To a perfect healing, Bryan... with love... from a mother who has been there.

WONDERFUL NEWS!!! Love especially the side notes from Bonnie and Erin, kissing your brother does sound funny, but in this case, it just gives me goose bumps of joy! YAY Bryan and thanks to his precious family that I only knew for a short time but love dearly and feel for what you are going to. This is so uplifting to everyone who is praying for Brian and his family, especaily me. So excited to hear of the progress he's making and just remember this is because of you the family that aren't "giving up" even in the beginning when the outlook was grim. Goes to show that all prayers are answered in God's time, all things are done in HIS time, HE'S got Brian in his arms and going thru this with all of you. I think all the prayers are doing their magic and helping with Brians progress. Lets not stop praying just because he's doing all these things. The power of prayer is great. What an awesome god we serve. I dont kno any of u but my church and i have been praying for bryan and his family. Everytime i think about bryan my heart burns with such a passion for him and i know that gods hand is in this and that he is healing bryan as i speak. i will not stop praying for bryan and his family, god bless u all and keep praying, and keep faith. Yes! Great news!!! Earlier this year our community lost one of our high school athletes to a car accident; his motto was "Never Back Down". If you drive through our community, the "Never Back Down" signs can be seen on front lawns. Don't Stop Believing and "Never Back Down"!

I have been following Bryan's condition since the beginning but this is the first time I have written a comment. I was so happy it brought tears to my eyes to read about his recent improvements. My heart goes out to the family and friends who haven't stopped believing. My urge to express my feelings now may be because I have recently had two surgeries (ACL Reconstruction and Tonsillectomy) and now have an understanding of how important it is to feel love and support. I want Bryan and his family to know there are many many more people out there who have also not stopped believing!

Hi Stow Family! I've followed Bryan's progress from the beginning but have never left a comment until today. My brother was in a very bad car accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down permanently. I remember spending time at his bedside when he was in a medically induced coma for over a month. When I finally saw him open his eyes for the first time it was the most amazing feeling. I pray that you and all of those that love Bryan will have that amazing day come to you soon. Sending all my love and best wishes your way. Keep up the progress Bryan!!
